Hello and welcome to my blog!

I'm currently in my third year as a TESL teacher trainee in the Institute of Teacher Education (IPG). This blog is a space where I will document my plan for my professional development in my teaching career to work towards one of my biggest career goals: becoming a Guru Cemerlang (GC) or Excellent Teacher.

Why Guru Cemerlang?

Ever since I began my teacher training process, I’ve been inspired by outstanding educators who leave a lasting impact—not just on students, but on the teaching profession as a whole. I want to grow into that kind of teacher. In my opinion, becoming a Guru Cemerlang is not just a title. It's a commitment to lifelong learning, excellence in teaching, and leadership in the education community. Other than that, there are a lot of benefits of becoming a GC.

Since my passion lies in teaching young children, I have decided to remain in the school setting. Even though I plan to stay in school throughout my teaching career, I am determined to make meaningful contributions to the field of education, especially in the area of English language teaching. Therefore, becoming a Guru Cemerlang is the perfect path for me to fulfil my aspirations as a dedicated educator.

How I Plan to Become a Guru Cemerlang?

  1. Following the MOE’s Development Model

  2. Growing Through Continuous Learning (Continuous Professional Development, CPD)

  3. Upgrading my quality as a teacher according to the Standard Guru Malaysia 2.0 framework.

As a teacher, I believe that great teaching begins with lifelong learning. In line with the Ministry of Education’s Teacher Development Model, I plan to be actively involved in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) since my first year of service. The SKPMg2 standards emphasise the importance of quality teachers who continuously improve, and CPD is one of the main tools that allow me to do that.
